During this series we’ve talked a lot about your Ideal Lifestyle and what your Big Goals are. This is the point that most of us drop off the charts. These goals are just that – they’re B I G! And may seem impossible to achieve. Stay with me here!
This week you’re going to take your top 3 Big Goals and break them down into doable pieces. Think of the Result Producing Activities (RPAs) that need to support each of your goals. Let me give you an example:
One of my Big Goals is to learn Spanish. Clearly this isn’t going to happen overnight. In order to accomplish this Big Goal I’m going to need to set some smaller goals.
Enroll in a Spanish class – or purchase some of that ever popular software that’s supposed to be even better.
- Either way, I need to schedule class time, study time, etc.
- Practice! Find a practice buddy to talk with as I learn.
- Reward myself when I reach my first milestone – the ability to carry on a basic conversation.
One thing we CAN NOT forget is that all of these things need to be scheduled. You need accountability to yourself in order to achieve these smaller pieces of your Big Goals. Let’s take it one week at a time.
Over the next week, break down your three Biggest Goals into the necessary RFPs and then carve out time on your calendar to achieve them. DON’T FORGET THE REWARD. As you reach your weekly goals, make sure you reward yourself for those achievements.
Sharing is fun!
